Walk Now for Autism

AutismSpeaks Team at the Penn Relays Distance Classic raised $5000
|
Dear Colleagues,
This is the second year that my daughter, Laurelle, is taking a personal role in the fight against cancer by being part of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life®. She is again volunteering as a team captain and is trying to raise $1000 for the fight against cancer, and needs your help.
It's amazing to think that more than one million people will be diagnosed with cancer this year. Somebody close to us may be one of them. That is why she is asking everyone she can to help sponsor her Relay For Life efforts and support the American Cancer Society and their important work. The Society works hard every day to prevent cancer and save lives through groundbreaking research, public education, and better laws that protect people from cancer. They also help people who are diagnosed with cancer in our own communities. The Society has already helped save millions of lives from cancer.
She hopes you can help her with a donation to this incredible cause before the Relay takes place May 9 at Strath Haven HS. Your support will help people in our community and around the world in the fight against this disease.
You can make a secure online contribution from her Personal Page by clicking on the link below.
To help even more she would also love for you to send this message to everyone you know, to help her team in this amazing cause.
Thank You!
Lorraine D. Holley, Esq.

Update from Jim Gillespie
Dear Ronalyn--thanks for letting me travel to Washington
on Monday and Tuesday. Senator Christopher Dodd
of Connecticut introduced legislation on Tuesday at a
press conference that would permit parents of disabled
children to create the equivalent of a 529 account for their
children for future care. A photo was taken on the
Capitol Building steps immediately after. My son, Brendan
is standing next to Senator Dodd in the attached
picture (hope it made it through). Thank you, again,
Jim Gillespie

Join the Working Parents and Litigation Forums of the Women’s Bar Association of DC in a Luncheon Presentation
Doing It Her Way: A Woman Entrepreneur's Path to Success
How often have you sat at your desk at work and thought that there had to be a
more fulfilling way to make a living? Or that you’d much rather be your own
boss, and set your own schedule, your own priorities?
Meet Ronalyn Sisson. Ms. Sisson is the founder and owner of Oxford Legal Associates, a legal staffing
company based in the Philadelphia area. A graduate of Stanford University and Notre Dame Law
School, Ms. Sisson maintained an active litigation practice for several years. Fed up with the toocommon
dilemma of juggling a hectic workload and the needs of two small children, Ms. Sisson took
the plunge and started her own company. Twelve years later, Ms. Sisson leads a thriving 10-person
company, which has just opened an office in Washington, D.C. and is planning another in New York
City. At the same time, Ms. Sisson remains a dedicated and involved parent and even finds time to
pursue her passion for sailing and for charity work.
Given her personal background, Ms. Sisson is well-acquainted with the challenge of finding balance
between professional and personal responsibilities. It is also an issue that she frequently confronts at the
helm of a legal staffing company, which works to place seasoned attorneys – many of whom are seeking
part-time contract work or looking for a way to reenter the workforce – with corporations and law firms.
Join us for an enlightening and entertaining discussion touching on issues that speak to so many working
parents:
- the dream of working for oneself – being an entrepreneur in big and small ways
- finding success and fulfillment as a woman in law and business
- balancing work and family
- strategies for finding your professional niche
- getting back into the legal market on a part-time basis or after time out of the workforce
- succeeding as a single parent

Update from the New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association Event
Ronalyn:
I thought you'd like the attached pictures of the winners of the Oxford stadium blankets. The woman in the first picture is Jessica Steinhart, Assistant General Counsel of sanofi-aventis. It actually was her husband Jason Steinhart, also an Assistant General Counsel of sanofi-aventis, who won the blanket. The man in the second picture is Arthur Saiewitz, Corporate Counsel of Alcatel-Lucent.
Thanks so much for your sponsorship of a display table at NJCCA's full day conference. Your generous support helped to make the conference a success with than 230 in-house counsel and their supporters attending. As you can tell from the smiles in the picture, the day was enjoyed by all.

On October 16, 2007, Ronalyn Sisson attended the Philadelphia Bar Association's Quarterly Meeting at the
invitation of Chancellor Jane Dalton. Jane awarded the Sandra Day O'Connor award at the event to Lynn Marks,
the Director of Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts. Ms. Sisson attended the VIP pre-luncheon reception.
The event was well-attended and keynote speaker, Ann Weaver Hart, President of Temple University,
emphasized not only the appropriateness of Ms. Marks' receiving the award, but the numerous contributions
Temple University and its lawyer alumni have made to the Mid-Atlantic region. Follow this link

I just wanted to say thank you again for your very generous corporate match in connection with the Cure Autism Now Walk at Citizens Bank Park.
We were able to raise in excess of $750,000 in a single day. Please thank your gang as well. I hope things are going well with the new DC office.
Best regards, Jim Gillespie
James Gillespie, an Oxford attorney, along with his youngest son, are "Walk Captains" for the Cure Autism Now Walk which takes place on September 15, 2007 at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia. Jim is a graduate of Boston University Law School and University of Pennsylvania, Wharton undergrad, and has been an Oxford attorney for years. He also was a Captain in the Army Reserves, and we applaud his efforts on the Cure Autism Now Walk.

Special education vendors set up booths throughout the park and there is entertainment culminating in a 2.5 mile walk. The event raised over $650,000 last year. The goal this year is $1,000,000. The event, which is run largely by parents,
always appreciates contributions and volunteers, and Oxford is providing a corporate match to Jim for all his efforts on this important cause. For more information email Jim at james.gillespie@dechert.com, and check out the website www.walknow.org.
